Agriculture
Agriculture plays a vital role in the economy and daily life of District 1A. It encompasses a wide range of activities, including crop production, livestock raising, and sustainable farming practices. The agricultural sector not only provides food for local consumption but also contributes significantly to markets both domestically and internationally. As technological advancements continue to enhance productivity and efficiency, sustainable practices are increasingly being adopted to address environmental concerns. The balance between meeting the growing demand for food and preserving natural resources remains a pivotal challenge for those involved in agriculture and I am dedicated to supporting our farmers and finding ways to minimize unnecessary government involvement in their operations.
Waste, Fraud, and Abuse
Fraud, waste, and abuse in Minnesota undermine public trust and divert critical resources away from the people and programs that truly need them. Every dollar lost to mismanagement or corruption is a dollar taken from schools, infrastructure, health care, and public safety. Minnesota taxpayers work hard for their money and deserve transparency, accountability, and responsible stewardship at every level of government. Protecting taxpayer dollars is not partisan—it is a fundamental obligation to ensure a fair, effective, and honest use of public funds.
Pro-Life
I believe every human life has inherent value and deserves protection, especially the most vulnerable who cannot speak for themselves. My pro-life stance comes from a deep conviction that compassion means supporting both unborn children and mothers with care, resources, and understanding. I hope for a society that chooses life by uplifting families, promoting responsibility, and affirming the dignity of every person.
2nd Amendment
I’m a gun owner and a carry permit holder, and I strongly support the Second Amendment. For me, that support comes with responsibility, training, and respect for the law. Most gun owners are law-abiding citizens who care deeply about the safety of their families and communities, and protecting constitutional rights does not conflict with promoting public safety. We can defend the rights of responsible gun owners while holding criminals accountable and keeping our communities safe.
Education
Our schools need fair, flexible funding that puts parents—not bureaucrats—in charge, reduces disparities between districts, and lessens reliance on local levies. Literacy is learning, and every child has a fundamental Right to Read; to a child who cannot read, every book is effectively banned. Local control drives innovation, empowered parents are engaged parents, and decisions made furthest from families involve them the least—making it essential to roll back unnecessary mandates, including the 65+ imposed during the 2023–24 biennium. Expectations matter: mediocrity is not equity, every student can learn, and academic rigor—not ideology—leads to success. To attract and keep great teachers, we should recognize excellence and reward it accordingly.
